BY CAR

Take the Long Island Expressway east to Exit 59, Ocean Avenue-South (Oakdale). Follow Ocean Avenue over the first set of railroad tracks, bearing left at the fork onto Lakeland Avenue. Continue on Lakeland Avenue for 4.5 miles to Main Street in Sayville.

Make a left turn onto Main, then right at the fork onto Middle Road. At the next light, turn right onto Foster Avenue and continue seven blocks to Terry Street. Make a left onto Terry Street for one block, then a right onto River Road. Follow the signs for the Fire Island Pines Ferry.

Parking is available across from the ferry. Rates for passenger cars are $6.00 per day Monday thru Thursday and $7.00 per day Friday thru Sunday.
BY TRAIN

Take the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station to Sayville. Transfer trains in Jamaica or Babylon Station. Fares are listed here.

At Sayville Station a $5 bus will be waiting to take you to Fire Island ferry. If you are traveling off-peak season, call Colonial Taxi at 631-589-3500 for a lift to the ferry.

Take the Fire Island Pines ferry which is $14 roundtrip. Schedules are listed here. Travel time fro NYC to Fire Island Pines: 2 - 2.5 hours.
